Mikey’s Piano Recital

Last week, Mikey got to play at his first piano recital! His teacher doesn’t normally have the young beginners participate, but because he’d worked pretty hard, he did. We were so proud!
And the boy really has been working hard on it. He absolutely LOVES piano and practices on his own pretty much every day. We need to work on his rhythm, but he’s doing very well!

Halloween!

We rushed home from work & school only to arrive at home a little after 5PM and some our neighbors already trick-or-treating! I tried to stick to my “let’s have dinner THEN we’ll go out” position, but I didn’t last more than 10 minutes… So the kids had candy for dinner. Oh well, Halloween is just once a year! Fun was had by all

1st Grade

Mikey’s 5 Years Old!

Mikey turned 5 today! We had a party at Monkey Joe’s for him and 3 of his classmates (Richard, Triston & Heidi) whose birthdays are close to Mikey’s. It was a blast!

Birthday Weekend

For our birthday weekends Mike & I got to spend a night out. We stayed at the new(ish) JW Marriott hotel in downtown Indy and had a great time! A little further down are some pictures from our hotel room.
When we got home, we found that the kids (with the help of their grandparents of course) had decorated the house! Very cute

Danny – 1st Grade Update

Danny seems to be doing really well in 1st grade. His grades were a bit iffy the first couple of weeks, but he has since dramatically improved! Additionally, he just seems really happy at his new school. He has lots of friends and fits right in. We have our first parent/teacher conference next week, so we’ll see what his teacher thinks then. He does still struggle a bit with listening to his teachers, but we expected that .

Starting in 1st grade, boys can start scouting and Danny is now a Tiger Cub (I think that’s what they call it anyway). He hasn’t done too much yet, but he likes it so far.

Finally, not to be outdone by his little brother who started piano lessons last month, Danny is now taking piano classes as well! He’s only had 2 classes so far but he seems to like it. He really wanted to learn how to play the guitar, but everyone has told me that we should wait until he’s 9 or 10 years old, so piano it was.
